Think about the Bitterroot Valley beyond your own lifetime.
For conservation to continue long into the future, we need to connect people with the opportunity to make a greater impact that protects the lands and waters of the Bitterroot Valley. By including the Bitter Root Land Trust in your will and estate plans, you can continue to care for the place you love.
Our Forever Bitterroot program was created for our supporters to help ensure the values and special reasons you love the Bitterroot Valley can live on through your own legacy in conservation. By making a “planned gift” to the Bitter Root Land Trust, your love of the land and the Bitterroot Valley will live on in the hearts and minds of those you care about.
To become a member of our Forever Bitterroot program, donors make arrangements for planned gifts in the present but they are distributed at a later date. Gifts to BRLT can be made as part of your financial or estate plans and will be used by BRLT to support local conservation efforts that protect the Bitterroot Valley’s special waters, wildlife habitat, and working farms and ranches. You can also specify that your gift be used for a specific area, project, or program that is important for you.

My husband and I were working on our estate plan, and avoiding probate was at the top of our list. We were clear that we wanted to choose the Bitter Root Land Trust to leave our home to when we die. As we get older, we think of what legacy we want to leave behind, and preserving areas in the beautiful Bitterroot and supporting wildlife are what we believe in strongly. What better way to leave something behind for future generations of people and animals here in our valley?

Once you’ve seen this place, it’s hard not to appreciate, what’s not to love? The work that the Land Trust does seems to me like a worthwhile cause. And when you wake up one day, and you’re 62 years old, you start thinking about how you want to leave your mark on the world… And for me, including the Land Trust as a beneficiary in my will is it.
